Opposition to Reach Consensus for New PM Nominee Today

SJB MP Dr. Harsha De Silva yesterday said the Opposition yesterday discussed with various parties and groups in government to reach a consensus with regard to the position of Prime Minister.

Acting President and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Wednesday night requested

the Speaker to nominate a person agreeable to both government as well as Opposition to be appointed as PM under an All-Party Government. Parliamentarian De Silva said that they expect to propose the name to the Speaker today.

“Responding to request by PM Ranil Wickremesinghe to the Speaker to propose a name by consensus for PM, Opposition parties will today discuss with various parties and groups in government to get such consensus. We will propose this name to the Speaker at 10am tomorrow,” he tweeted.
