Story: Operation Fortune starts as special agent Orson Fortune (Statham) gets his holiday interrupted for his latest assignment. His handler Nathan (Elwes) puts together a team including Sarah (Plaza) as they recruit megastar actor Danny (Hartnett).
When the team is put together, they must get close to international arms dealer Greg (Grant). However, this becomes more difficult when Danny starts to enjoy life more than he imagined. It becomes a race to stop a massive deal with destructive consequences going through.
Verdict on Operation Fortune
Operation Fortune is an action comedy following a group of special agents that must team up with an actor. Their mission is to stop an arms dealer from making a massive deal and figure out whom he is doing a deal with.
This is a fun action comedy with exaggerated characters throughout the movie. The story is filled with twists and turns along the way. However, when it comes to actions, things end up feeling slightly short and very basic like we have seen plenty of times before.
The actors look like they are having a good time, with the most entertaining performance being Bugzy Malone. This doesn’t mean the others are bad and the continuing revival of Hugh Grant’s darker turn is working very well.
Sadly, Operation Fortune struggles to live up to the hype from the first trailer. It is unfortunate that it got delayed because of real-life situations and the buzz has fizzled out.
Final Thoughts –Operation Fortune is a fun action comedy that is enjoyable.
