The hip DAO is moreover team to create a splash in the phygital world this week with the inaugural FWB Fest.
OpenSea, the world’s largest NFT marketplace, is converting its homepage on Friday to caption works by what may be the active DAO to date. Friends With Benefits, established in 2020 by Trevor McFedries, “a DJ, entrepreneur, and desiring basketball star,” regarding Interview magazine, is debuting 10 recent tasked artworks as the role of a program named “The Flock.”
The artists and DAO members encompass contemporary artists Andrew Benson, Ayaka Ohira, Case Simmons, Ezra Miller, Niall Ashley, Nic Hamilton, Petra Cortright, Sarah Zucker, Tyler Givens, and Vivian Fu.
OpenSea raises $100,000 to charge the NFT art, divide equally among the ten artists. And in another instance of a “phygital” enterprise, the physical artworks will be on view the following weekend (August 12-14) at the initial FWB Fest, happening at the Idyllwild Arts Academy, in California’s San Jacinto mountains.
“FWB is a social DAO and it’s certainly concentrated on integrating crypto and culture,” the DAO’s head of label Lindsay Howard said to Artnet News. The membership payments for the personal online population, which is concentrated on blockchain enthusiasts and artists, appear in the form of tokens, and networking occurs on Discord channels. Meanwhile, this weekend’s inaugural FWB Fest will be a three-day immersive celebration of music, experiential conversations, and workshops about culture and the web3 area. “We’re thinking of this as a kind of culture crypto summer camp,” announced Howard, expanding that the NFT artworks will be on show in a “proper” gallery space on the grounds of the art academy. About 700 people have RSVP’d so far.
As a decentralized institution, the FWB population collectively ratified the proposed cooperation with OpenSea and expanded an inner curatorial team consisting of artists and entrepreneurs.
