So if a c-section isn't enough of an inconvenience, now you get to wear big ol' boots during and after the procedure. Don't get me wrong, I think the boots are terrific if they work to prevent blood clots during c-sections. As a mom who had to have a c-section, it just made me laugh and think, "Great, one more uncomfortable part about having the surgery." Now women get to barely move and have big boots on their feet.
FROM NBC: They may not be fashionable, but special compression boots could help lower the risk of dangerous blood clots during c-section surgery.
The American College of OB-GYN's say the use of inflating boots strapped to a patient's leg should be routine for most c-sections.
That's because a cesarean delivery almost doubles a woman's risk of developing blot clots --- which is the leading cause of maternal death in the U.S.
Experts say the boots should be left on until the new mom can walk after delivery. Pregnant women who experience pain or swelling in the leg should notify their doctor immediately.
