The men in Nicole McLaughlin’s Man Enough series are tough Alphas devoted to serving their country and the women who love them.

National Guardsman Aiden King has been attracted to Hannah Walters for a while, but he never made a move because of her close relationship with his best friend. But when circumstances change, Aiden is surprised when his friend gives his blessing. Problem is, there’s a reason he’s still alone after all these years, and as much as he wants her, that secret keeps him from acting on his desires.

Hannah has finally decided to wait for the kind of love you read about in books and see in movies. After her failed engagement, Aiden’s unassuming support has become a touchstone for Hannah. It soon becomes apparent that he may be exactly the kind of man she’s been looking for. But the closer they become, the more he keeps her at arm’s length.

When Aiden suggests a road trip to take Hannah’s mind off her troubles, the two of them go on a journey neither one expected. She just hopes that the final destination is them together for good.

Through my association as a book blogger with NetGalley, I often have the opportunity to learn about books by authors that I’ve already heard about or by authors whose other books I’ve read in the past.  Today’s post is by an author with whom I’ve had the opportunity to read and review two prior books – Maybe This Time in May of 2018 (see review HERE) and Should Have Been You in February of 2018 (see review HERE).  Today’s book is Only With You by Nicole McLaughlin.

This is book #4 in Nicole McLaughlin’s Man Enough series where the men in each book are tough Alphas devoted to serving their country and the women who love them.  As with the other books in this series, The series are standalone. I didn’t feel like I was missing out on character story lines by picking up only this book, so don’t be put off by that if you are just looking for one read and not a series.

Hannah Walters sat back and watched as her best friend, Jase Beckford, fell in love with her twin sister., Becca.  Hannah feels the loss of the very close friendship they once had.  Hannah vows to hold out for the perfect man for her when she breaks off her own engagement – the kind of love you see in movies.

Aiden King serves as a national guardsman with Jase and they are very close friends.  Aiden has always had a slight crush on Hannah even though he never acted on it because of Jase’s friendship with her. As Aiden realizes that Jase and Hannah have no intention on pursuing their friendship in a deeper level, he decides to try and find the courage to pursue Hannah himself.  Before doing so, however, Aiden has secrets from his past he needs to deal with first.

Only With You was a really sweet romance that provides some emotional “pull at your heartstrings” content. Readers see Hannah unexpectedly growing closer to Aiden as they build on their friendship giving them a good foundation to grow their relationship.  After a painful road trip, it is only time apart that give Aiden and Hannah the courage they need to try for a deeper relationship to find exactly what they want.

The characters are very relatable and have some very realistic problems. The author did an excellent job approaching the realities and lives of sexual abuse victims, especially men.  Pick up your copy here:

Nicole wrote her first full length book (6 pages) about the birth of her baby sister, when she was eight years old. She only finished it because her mother bribed her with a Rick Astley cassette tape. Sad, but true. Now her characters are what keep her writing and her subject matter has gotten a little bit deeper and  a lot more romantic.

She resides in a small town outside of Kansas City with her husband and three sons. When she isn’t writing, she’s a wedding and portrait photographer, loves to cook, and watch historical dramas or documentaries.

I received an advanced readers digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to provide a positive review!! Thank you NetGalley!
