Good things certainly do come to those who wait, at least in the case of rising pop talent Gamu. Fans of the X-Factor probably remember early favorite, Gamu Nhengu, who's family was nearly sent back to its native Zimbabwe due to Visa issues following her untimely elimination from the show. While the, then 18 year old, failed to make it to the X-Factor live shows, Gamu managed to leave a very big impression on the hearts, minds AND ears of Britain. Three years after X-Factor, Gamu is back and ready to unleash her very special brand of soul-pop on the the UK, starting with infectious debut single, "Shake The Room."
Due out on GSound Records on April 14th, "Shake The Room" serves as the lead single from Gamu's forthcoming debut album, A Love Like This, due later this year. According to Gamu, "I wanted to make something that would last, something timeless, classic and classy - like a Chanel suit." Well, girl - if "Shake The Room" is any indication of what we can expect on the album, I'd say mission accomplished!
Series 7 of The X-Factor had quite the roster of talent. In addition to winner Matt Cardle and runner up Rebecca Ferguson, that was the season that churned out international pop starlet, Cher Lloyd and the JUGGERNAUT of the series...One Direction. Series 7 also was responsible for some of my lesser known but equally talented favs like Aiden Grimshaw, Paije Richardson and Mary Byrne.
Check out the 60s-soul-inspired, name-droppin' "Shake The Room" video BELOW and get ready for Gamu to splash onto the scene later this spring.
AMERICANS: Check out the ORIGINAL version of "Walking On Sunshine" that Gamu auditioned with in 2010...before Simon Cowell took credit and gave it to U.S. X-Factor contestant Rachel Crow.
