OnePlus 8 series was launched on 14th April 2020. It is OnePlus’ first full 5G lineup and includes the compact flagship OnePlus 8 and the ultra-premium OnePlus 8 Pro. The brand promises that both these smartphones are designed to deliver the fastest & smoothest smartphone experience. Both devices have OxygenOS and 5G capability.

Performance:

OnePlus 8 Pro: This ultra-premium smartphone is equipped with the Snapdragon 865 with the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X55 5G Modem-RF System. This gives it multi-gigabit 5G connectivity capability and advanced Wi-Fi 6 performance. It can also deliver high-quality photography at Gigapixel speeds. The 12GB LPDDR5 RAM ensures up to 30% faster memory speed. It also improves power efficiency by up to 20%. For better audio experience OnePlus 8 Pro is powered by Dolby Atmos®, this smartphone has dual-stereo speakers with haptic vibration engine that adds an extra layer of pounding tactility to audio.

OnePlus 8: This flagship smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 865 with the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System. It has up to 12GB of boosted RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

Display:

OnePlus 8 Pro: This ultra-premium smartphone has 6.78” QHD+ Fluid Display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits peak brightness for smooth and stunning visuals. This display earned an A+ rating from DisplayMate, the professional display review institution. As per OnePlus, its optimization system, the OnePlus Smooth Chain, has added more than 280 enhancements to the display. And the advanced motion estimation and motion compensation (MEMC) algorithms of the device, videos can be viewed at an elevated frame rate of up to 120fps. This should lead to reduced motion blur and better clarity. 

OnePlus 8: This smartphone has 6.55” Fluid Display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It has a color accuracy rating of JNCD 0.4 which should ensure natural-looking images. OnePlus 8 has a cinematic 20:9 aspect ratio and HDR 10 and 10+ support. This would translate into sharper visuals and immersive viewing experience.

Camera:

OnePlus 8 Pro: This is OnePlus’s first quad-camera smartphone. The main camera is 48MP and has a custom-made Sony IMX689 sensor with 1/1.4″ sensor size. The device also has a 48MP ultra-wide lens with 120-degree field of view capability and Sony IMX586 sensor, a telephoto lens with 3x hybrid and 30x digital zoom, and also a color filter camera. The OnePlus 8 Pro is equipped with hybrid image stabilization. That is, it combined optical (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) for more stable videos. It also has 3-HDR technology, which gives it a higher dynamic range for clearer pictures.

OnePlus 8: This smartphone has a triple camera setup. The main camera has Sony’s 48MP IMX586 sensor with a Spectra 480 Image Signal Processor for better images. The phone also has a 16MP ultra-wide angle lens with a 116-degree expansive view for wide shots.

OnePlus 8 Pro: This smartphone has a 4510 mAh battery and comes with Warp Charge 30 Wireless charging solution. This wireless charging device can charge 8 Pro to 50% power in just 30 minutes. The Warp Charge 30T can charge this device to 50% in just 23 minutes.

OnePlus 8: This smartphone of the OnePlus 8 series has a 4300mAh battery that can charge to 50% in about 22 minutes with the Warp Charge 30T.

Design:

OnePlus 8 Pro: The OnePlus 8 Pro will be available in Onyx Black, Ultramarine Blue, and Glacial Green color options. The Ultramarine Blue and Glacial Green options have matte-frosted glass with a higher degree of haze, making the smartphone look more stylish.

OnePlus 8: This smartphone weighs 180 grams and is 8mm thick. It will be available in Onyx Black, Glacial Green, and Interstellar Glow color options.

Price and availability:

OnePlus 8 series smartphones will be available for purchase in May 2020.
