Last week MC from Pearls, Diamonds and Everything Elseinvited me to join the One Weekend challenge. Beginning Friday night and ending Monday (public holiday), I was totally snap happy, more so than usual. Yet remembering to enjoy the moment with my loved ones instead of getting too carried away. There is like, a fine line. It’s definitely easier with a phone than my big camera!
You can’t watch a movie without the 3 C’s: Chocolate, Cream Soda, Corn. In your mouth at the same time. I had water this time, because you know, I’m on a diet. See, not a KING Steer burger for me just a baby one.
The weekend started off on Friday night with a quick dinner and movies at Cavendish Square. Y and I went to see After Earth, which we both enjoyed considering sci-fi is not our thing. And too much action and excitement means sleepy-time for me. Bonus: less than 1.5 hours because I hate long movies.
They’re dashing, and daring, courageous and caring…
Got home in time to see what the boys were up to while we were away, U making comics and M watching Gummi Bears. I then started on a rose and vanilla chiffon sponge cake for Rai’s baby shower the following day.
This made me an hour late, who knew ruffles would take three hours?
Saturday morning was spent running around getting cake decor supplies and some grocery shopping. This was my first attempt at a Ruffle cake (a post to follow soon). I spent most of the party hiding my pink hands in my skirt, but seeing how much Rai loved it, everything was completely worth it
Rai’s baby shower:
Bliss!! And they came home fed
When I got home later that evening I realized… I was home alone for two more hours! Snuggled into my big red gown, put the heater on and did a mani whilst catching up on some series. Happy me-time.
He knew something big was going down when I said ‘Don’t get up’ and was still busy an hour later…
Sunday was Father’s Day and had to get cracking early (10am is early for a weekend)
Followed by a play in the park: me soaking up winter sun and the guys playing ball. In love with my new billowing tie-dyed maxi skirt.
Spent a quiet evening at home, finishing off cakes and treats I brought home from the baby shower (hehe). How sweet are my roses from Y? Also, it came in handy: two for the cake and one for the breakfast tray
That lawn needs a cutting
Beautiful Monday morning, another day to be thankful for.
Some lazing about while waiting for Y to get back from cycling
And then it was lunch time in Hout Bay. We stopped at Fish on the Rocks, to find that the whole of Cape Town had the same idea! Instead we drove around to find another lunch spot, and took a walk around before heading for Seapoint.
But stayed for two minutes, because the Carelses’ were coming to visit! We met at our house and did a quick little shoot at the park while the boys played before the sun set, then settled in for cakes and coffee and some cuddling time with Aniya
