Former Wild Beasts songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Tom Fleming has shared ‘One True Pairing’, the first glimpse of his solo material to be released under the same name.
A synth-heavy track that falls more in line with his old band’s latterday material, the song is all about keeping hopeful no matter how much shit life throws at you. It finds Tom looking at how you can rely on significant others to see you through (‘You and I want the same thing’; ‘I believe the things we saw’) even if things don’t quite go where you’re expecting: ‘You fear nothing, ’cause you always knew it would end this way’. He also vows ‘I’m not some king of white knight, I was burning all my hope and all my life’ while the instrumentation falls somewhere between Gary Numan and contemporaries like Christine and the Queens.
Catch One True Pairing on the following live date:
Thursday 25th July – Bedford Tavern, London Tickets
