">Looking for different colored shorts outfits? I’m here to give you some options with my “One Item, Five Fashionable Ways” series. If you’re not familiar with this series I run every Tuesday,each week I take one item and style it five ways with the intention to teach you how to maximize what you own in your wardrobe. This is very similar to how I work with clients when I help them create looks using what they own. Every item gets styles multiple ways to ensure that they are getting the most out of their clothing. Additionally, because many women shop in an outfit-driven manner and rarely think about new ways to wearing the things they only wear one way, I hope the tips in this series give you some inspiration.

Ann Taylor Stretch Cotton City Shorts were chosen because of their high reviews for comfort and fit.   Considering how hard it can be to find shorts that fit well, they seemed like a smart choice.  The purple is a great color because it allows you to embrace the colored shorts trend in a color that is dark and versatile.

I just loved the way the top in this outfit worked with the purple shorts yet brought in new colors.  Purple and yellow is a great color combination because they sit opposite each other on the color wheel, also known as complementary colors.  With an easy yellow sandal and a purple cross-body bag, the outfit is complete.

Even a basic t-shirts and shorts can look polished with the right accessories.  Here, I chose an aqua t-shirt, another color that works well with purple and found these fun sandals that pick up the colors in the outfit, and more.  With a cork tote and a simple necklace, the outfit is super casual without looking super sloppy.

While this look may be stepping out a bit for some of you, I wanted to show how well yellow goes with purple.  Also, the multi-colored sandal, from the earlier outfit, ties the outfit together. Of course, the other yellow sandals, even the metallic wedges could also be used here as well.

When you buy anything, try to come up with multiple ways you can wear it before you hang it in your closet.
