As usual in this series, I not only like to show how to get maximum use from a piece I am featuring but also how to get the most out of the components I style with it by repeating an item more than once and also pulling in pieces from prior posts.
Okay, let’s move on to the outfits.
Five Colorblock Pencil Skirt Outfits
Look #1
I can’t be the first one who thought of pairing this skirt with red when they saw it, right? The skirt is perfect for a bold styled look. To make this Boden white button down more exciting, I simply popped a red Betsey Johnson belt around the waist. Next, while I’m still trying to figure them out, I was inspired to style a pair of peep toe booties with this outfit. Finally, the ensemble is finished with a black handbag and necklace and gold stud earrings for a bold and beautiful look.
Look #2
Remember, there is no limitation to the colors you can wear with this skirt. In this outfit, I chose burgundy which works in such a rich, beautiful way with gray. I layered a basic Mango cardigan over a sleeveless Vince Camuto top and further brought the burgundy in through basic pumps from Anne Klein. To add a bit more color, this Blu Bijoux necklace was used and I finished the outfit with the same handbag that was used in the previous look.
Look #3
This skirt may look bold and stark, but, with the right components it doesn’t have to be. In this outfit, the black took a back seat and, instead, I warmed up the gray with a terra cotta top from Zara, a pair of nude pumps by Ivanka Trump, a taupe Furla handbag and earrings by David Aubrey that pick up the terra cotta shade of the top.
Look #4
If you’re interested in keeping your wardrobe tight and getting the most use from it, the colors in your wardrobe not only have to be versatile but they need to communicate with one another. The next step is to choose accessories in shades that pick up the colors of your clothes. In this outfit, I paired the colorblock pencil skirt with a teal cardigan by Modcloth and used the same necklace from the second look. Notice how it works with both outfits even though the color story in each look is completely different? As a complement to the teal, I chose an orange Fossil handbag, used in previous posts in this series, that also works with the necklace. Lastly, instead of black, I opted for a softer grey stacked heel by Nine West.
Look #5
Back to bold, there are plenty of ways to wear this skirt in a bold manner. By simply belting this black turtleneck from Mango with the same red belt and black handbag from the first look, the outfit is finished with a pair of grey suede boots and red statement earrings.
