Grace and Tippi are twins - conjoined twins.

And their lives are about to change.

No longer able to afford home-schooling, they must venture into the world - a world of stares, sneers and cruelty. Will they find more than that at school? Can they find real friends? And what about love?

But what neither Grace nor Tippi realises is that a heart-wrenching decision lies ahead. A decision that could tear them apart. One that will change their lives even more than they ever imagined...

From Carnegie Medal shortlisted author Sarah Crossan, this moving and beautifully crafted novel about identity, sisterhood and love ultimately asks one question: what does it mean to want and have a soulmate?

We are.

And we are living.

Isn't that amazing?

How we manage
to be
at all.

WHAT I THOUGHT

One is an incredible novel, one of the best I've read in ages. I started crying more than 100 pages from the end and didn't stop. This book touched me on every level and gave my heart a good, hard squeeze. One is so sad but beautiful and wonderful as well. I love the structure of the novel, with very, very short chapters written in the form of verses like narrative poems. This works really well and meant I could read a fairly large chunk in one sitting. One is gut-wrenching and heart-breaking. This is an incredibly sad book, even sadder than All The Bright Places which traumatised me. One will be in my head for a long time. Unmissable. Unforgettable.

I'm thirty-five years old and live in Glasgow in the UK with my partner of ten years. I work in a support team for a call centre. I like reading especially Joyce Carol Oates and Stephen King. I write fiction and poetry. I enjoy watching TV (Grimm, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Lip Service, The L Word etc). I like to play video games and am a fan of survival horror especially the Silent Hill franchise. I like to watch movies especially horror and anything where someone dies.
