On Being Thankful (with No Strings Attached)

By Jessicavenoy @lovelyjesscuh
Hello my sweet friends! So. I'm writing this on a Wednesday morning. I have summer classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I have to be out the door by 6:50 am those days. Needless to say, I LOVE my Monday and Wednesday mornings, because I get to ease into the day.
As I sit here sipping my coffee at 7 am, enjoying the lazy snores of my pups (all while still in my PJs might I add) I am thankful. But I'm especially thankful BECAUSE I'm not rushing out the door to go to class.
That got me thinking - I should be thankful with no strings attached. I catch myself being thankful for things AFTER the fact rather than during. Or even being thankful for something once you realize that you don't have it anymore, whether that be something as significant a person in your life or as simple as sitting on the couch sipping coffee at 7 am.
A thankful heart is a powerful thing. This is me committing to being thankful. Thankful during and not just after. Thankful with no strings attached.
Here is a list of a few things that I am thankful for, no strings attached:
  • Eating dinner on the patio with my husband
  • Coffee dates with my Grandma
  • Spontaneous/creative dates
  • Puppy kisses from my boys
  • A fresh journal
I think it's important that we all take time DAILY to meditate on the things that we are thankful for - to appreciate what we have right now...before it's after the fact. What are some things that you are thankful for, no strings attached?

xo, Jess
