Oldenburg Style Installation Art

Most installation art is intended to have you look at your environment with a different perspective. Claes Oldenburg was famous for depicting ordinary objects in a monumental scale. I recently directed a temporary wrap job on our school’s outdoor posts to give our hallway a new look for a few weeks.1. The entire metal posts were wrapped in yellow paper and taped in place. I had the students cut green panels of felt that wrapped the posts and were about 10" tall, and pink rectangles that measured about 5" tall. The two were overlapped about an inch and glued together.
2. Two long yellow strips of felt, about 1 1/2" wide were cut and glued in the middle of the green panel. When dry, the entire panel was wrapped around the top of each post and taped with clear packing tape.
