Old Valentines (‘Life’s a Journey’ Nostalgia Link-Up, Week 54)

By Saveeverystep @saveeverystep

Welcome to our weekly series of ‘link-up’ Posts which reflect on life’s journey, old memories and family stories (see below for more info).

‘Tis the week or luurv and with nostalgia (as ever) in the air, I wondered how we might celebrate Valentine’s Day SaveEveryStep-style.

So here is a little taste of Vintage love for you.

I was never personally very lucky as a school girl in the Valentine’s cards stakes. Quality over quantity is better, right? I’d like to think I discarded the backlog of old Valentines which hung around the house in boxes, but in truth there weren’t any (shame).

The adult years were a little more fruitful, once I’d shaken off my ugly duckling, but the kids have always proved to be a rich seam of Valentine’s love. I dug this one out of a box yesterday by way of proof. Courtesy of no.1 son around 2006.

But here are some of my vintage faves, awful in their cheesiness, cringeworthy in their naive non-politically correctness, and funny in their crudeness.

Do you keep your old Valentine’s cards? Got a favourite you’d like to bring out and share? Maybe you have a vintage one from the family archives hanging around…we’d love to see them all, so share the love!
