Old Street, London – Promenade of Light

By Davis Landscape Architecture @DavisLandArch

This landscape scheme applies a simple element, the circle and applies it in a number of different ways to create a functional and coherent landscape design. Existing trees have been retained and their roots have been considered within the proposals. The palette of materials has been kept simple and, once again, helps to unify the design.

The high level, multi-directional spolighting creates interesting shadows of the trees projected onto the ground and a safe landscape to inhabit at night. The lower lights on the columns are yellow and provide safety lighting whilst the high level spot lights are white/ blue providing the contrasting shadows.
