Oats without molasses?!?!?!?
I feel the world falling off it’s axis right this second. Maybe Earth will fall into a galaxy far far away where we’ll all meet Princess Leah and get to race in strange floating Pods like in Star Wars Episode 1 (of the new movies).
This morning I made vanilla oats. Which are surprisingly pretty different from molasses oats.
Maren’s Vanilla Oats
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- salt to taste
- 1 TBSP milled flax seeds
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2-1 tsp stevia
- 2 tbsp sunflower seed butter
I added a lot of gooey-melty sunflower seed butter due to my own insecurities about straying from my usual oatmeal recipe. It was a traumatic moment. For a brief moment I actually invisioned me dancing around my kitchen with the jar of sunflower seed butter, which I had understandably named Prince Harry. I’m pretty sure we’d do a waltz if we ever danced so that’s what we did.
I felt a lot better about the vanilla oats after……………
With my extremely good vanilla oats, yes they are really tasty, I had 2 clementine oranges and 1 sweater mug of authentic apple cider. Apple Cider from a tea bag.
1/2 Marathon Training for week 1
- Monday: stretch and strength
- Tuesday: 3 mile run
- Wednesday: 2 mile run or cross training
- Thursday: 3 mile run and strength
- Friday: rest day
- Saturday: 30 minute cross training
- Sunday: 4 mile run
So today I have 3 miler to accomplish, preferably between work and my basketball game tonight. I’m dreading it a little because yesterday’s workout was so hard. But it is exciting because it is the first official training run of my first 1/2 marathon. You can’t ever get that one back.
Questions………
Today I have a serious question for you because all of you are so much smarter than me and give the absolute best advice ever. What would you do for strength training on a day that you also have a pretty decent run on?
