Louis Jadot crafts some of the finest Burgundy wines revered by wine connoisseurs and artisan wine makers worldwide. The wines shown here were features at La Paulee San Francisco 2016 at the Fairmont San Francisco.

As I pen this, the wind howls outside my hotel room, rain skittering across the pane like scared bugs. I’m on the final leg of my latest stay in Northern California.

Life with a someone who specializes in tending the under-served migrant populations proves a bit migratory in itself.

On the one hand, the work elicits satisfaction, satisfaction derived from serving agricultural and vineyard workers responsible for nurturing and harvesting the food and wine I have the privilege to write about.

But a well-rooted life back in the Pacific Northwest requires tending, too  –  a life trellised to family, friends, and additional work responsibilities.

And so, like salmon, we return to our home stream. Again. More change. But with change comes growth. Insight. Perspective.

Change also brings opportunity, some of which I now share with you:

March 2016 | First Fridays

First Fridays provides an opportunity for me to invite some of my favorite fellow writers to share stories about obscure, intriguing, up-and-coming wine regions with you.

March 3 introduced  Village Voice wine and coffee and tea contributor Lauren Mowery with her up-close and personal look at the Wines of South Africa.

April 1 will showcase Visiting Professor Sarah May Grunwald of Taste Georgia, who shares her experiences with the Women of Georgian Wines.

April 2016 | Sunday Brunch

Sunday Brunch allows me the opportunity to crack open samples from my favorite artisan wine makers and share my tasting notes with you every second Sunday of the month, beginning in April.

It’s a feature long overdue, and I look forward to your comments!

Instagram

I’ve moved my primary wine reviews to Instagram from Pinterest, and added a live feed to my home page so it’s easier for you to follow along.

Fave Wine Sites

I’ve also added a list of my favorite wine sites to the home page – some serious ‘geek-nip’ for the hopelessly geeky…

Foodable TV

Effective March 1, 2016, I’ve transitioned from print to video for Foodable TV.  More on this later…

In the meantime, enjoy…and see ya’ll back on the page every Tuesday!
