Of Nuns and Monks

By Travellingartist @devtramp

Myanmar, July 2016: It suddenly rained while I was taking photos of Yangon's Shwedagon Pagoda in July so I took shelter in one of the buildings where a number of Buddhist monks, pilgrims and devotees were praying to a massive image of Buddha. As I kept a low profile, quietly observing the surroundings, I noticed two monks move away from the crowd towards the brighter side of the building and pull out a gadget from under their robes. It took a while for me to realize that they were taking a selfie but nevertheless managed to make a few clicks with my camera before they tucked their phones back into their robes and then, ever so gently, rejoined the praying crowd.

Yes, everyone needs a selfie.
