NYFW Spring 2015 Report: TRIPTYCH Launches Its First Artisan Footwear Collection

By Dynelle Skinner @shoeography

Most may think fashion week is all about the clothing but to many, accessories are key elements of the most fashionable week in the world. Take for example the launch of this incredible artisan footwear collection from TRIPTYCH. Designed by Architect and Parsons professor Tania Ursomarzo, the exquisitely crafted range of shoes boasts an innovative yet comfortably cool esthetic. The six styles in the collection: 111, THREE, BEN, ITO, JUNE, and TWENTYSIX, come in classic neutral hues (the brown, cream, and gray are waxed, brushed suede), with an occasional punch of vibrant turquoise.
The launch event features a short fashion film directed by Tania Ursomarzo, which highlighted her footwear’s functionality and beauty of form on dancing feet caught in the reflections of the city's windows and glass doorways. In fact the collection celebrates movement. The look of the foot in motion, and with its fine fabrication such as the folds, wrinkles, asymmetrical wedge shapes, and unexpected cut-outs that flatters the foot and offers supports and practicality......although a very edgy practicality. With use over time, the shoe’s soft leathers mold to the foot, leaving you with an individual and unique footprint of your movement.
Tania Ursomarzo sees her footwear moving beyond the boundaries of fashion and trendiness: “The world doesn’t need more shoes,” she states; it needs good, ever evolving, and innovative design.” One only has to look at her innovative collection to know they transcend those confines.
The collection officially launches in stores February 2015, right on time for spring 2015 wardrobe refreshing, but you can pre-order a very limited number through the TRIPTYCH Kickstarter campaign. To see the entire collection, check out our TRIPTYCH Slideshow.
