It’s bad enough that the overwhelming majority of U.S. journalists are liberals and donors to the Democratic Party.
Now we have a journalist — of the New York Times, no less — who jokes about assassinating presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Paul Joseph Watson reports for InfoWars that on Feb. 24, 2016, New York Times columnist Ross Douthat tweeted a “joke” that Donald Trump’s presidential campaign could be ended by killing him:
“Good news guys I’ve figured out how the Trump campaign ends.”
Douthat’s tweet included a link to a video clip that leaves no doubt he meant assassination for “how the Trump campaign ends.” The video clip is from the 1983 movie The Dead Zone, which features a character played by Christopher Walken attempting to assassinate a political figure played by Martin Sheen.
After his tweet generated an uproar on social media, Douthat deleted the tweet and apologized.
Here’s the now-deleted tweet:
Ross Douthat, 36, is an author (Bad Religion: How We Became a Nation of Heretics; Grand New Party: How Republicans Can Win the Working Class and Save the American Dream), blogger, and N.Y. Times‘ youngest regular op/ed writer. He joined the Times in April 2009, replacing Bill Kristol as a conservative voice on the Times editorial page. Douthat supports Marco Rubio and John Kasich.
Trump’s former adviser Roger Stone said Trump now wears a bullet proof vest at all public appearance due to the sheer volume of death threats he receives on a regular basis.
Trump first began wearing the vest in October last year after reports that the world’s most wanted drug lord El Chapo had put a $100 million bounty on his head. Trump also began receiving Secret Service protection at around this time.
After his comments on Muslim immigration last December, Twitter exploded with death threats against Trump.
