I was feeling a little nostalgic and pop/punk today, so today's #NP post is on Fall Out Boy's first big tune "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy." Back in 2003 when this song was making it's rounds in the scene off their debut album, Take This To your Grave, I was a Sophomore in high school and I'll admit I wasn't a fan at first. Yet, a friend let me borrow the album and I quickly loved the record and now it might be one of the essential pop/punk records to have in your collection. It's crazy to think back to then, because no one would of guessed how big this band would get and although their sound has varied since, they still put out solid records.
Yet, "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy" has become one of those songs that almost everyone knows and will scream the lyrics anytime it comes on. I know so many friends that are just like that, even if they are not a big Fall Out Boy fan or even listen to the genre, when this song comes on every one goes nuts. The lyrics, the chorus, and of course those drums are all addicting and drive the power of this, well, basically anthem. Yet, when this song came out it was also when pop/punk was getting close to plateauing in popularity, but they helped the genre bounce back and last a bit longer. Now of course pop/punk still exists and a lot of great old and new bands are still faithful to the sound, but its overall popularity as decreased. But anytime this song pops on in my playlist, I know my volume goes up and I sing with all the passion in the world. Yeah, don't judge me. Enjoy the song and video below.
