In the beginning, Now You See Me will make you think that it's just another one of those bank-robbing movies with a predictable plot, but the story will keep you drowned in a deep, puzzling mystery until the very end when it reveals the true plan and the reasons of all the things that goes down throughout the film. That's the exact moment when you get your mind blown, in a good way.
Now You See Me follows four extraordinary people, a mentalist (Woody Harrelson), an escape artist (Isla Fisher), a magician (Jesse Eisenberg) and a talented thief (Dave Franco) all brought together by a mysterious man for one epic show. This mysterious person comes to each of those people's shows to secretly invite them to a meeting to show they what they can really do with their talents like robbing banks overseas without leaving the stage or magically transfer money from a wealthy man's accounts to random people in the audience.
Of course they can't get away with pulling off stunts like that. That's when Mark Ruffalo and Melanie Laurent comes to the scene. They are two investigators from the FBI and Interpol looking for some answers to common questions even I've shared watching this film. Questions like how did they do it? Or what the hell is that all about? While looking for answers, these two investigators try to bring in another sort of a magician guy to figure things out, it's Morgan Freeman. He's a dude who makes cash by exposing the secrets of magician's acts. This guy tags along with the FBI to do his own research in a douchey way to collect some stuff for his upcoming DVD and find out how they actually pull off those awesome stunts.
All these and more actions gets delivered in this movie in a brilliant, twisted way that kept me on the edge of the seat the whole time. Not to mention the frequent bits of comedy and thrills that only adds color to the story and makes it even more exciting until the very end. Don't worry, this one is no Inception. As the story progress you will begin to understand what's really going on. And I tell you, that wait was totally worth it.
Then again, nothing is perfect. Even this story has some loose ends which I'm still confused. For starters why would those talents young people follow this mysterious man's instructions, risking their lives without knowing the outcome of their actions. I mean they didn't even know if they're getting a reward at the end or why they are doing it. That totally bummed me out. Other than that the movie was one of a kind. I'm gonna have to watch this again to figure out what really happened. I highly recommend you guys to check this out. This was one of the coolest movies I've seen this year. A good chance of pace.
Now You See Me is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.
