Notre Dame De Lorette Church

By Eyepreferparis88 @eyepreferparis

I tend to photograph the smaller, more obscure churches of Paris as I sometimes find them more interesting and intimate than the grand churches like Notre Dame.
Notre Dame de Lorette, in the ninth arrondissement, began construction in 1823 under the reign of Louis XVIII and completed in 1836 under the rein of Louis Philippe. Architect Louis-Hippolyte Lebas built it in the neo-classical style, popular at that time, and the design was based on the ancient basilicas of Rome.
The name derives from lorettes, who were woman that lived in area and kept by wealthy men of the upper class.
I especially like the hand painted murals and the stunning inlaid ceilings.
