Nothing But Prints

By Amogere14

About a month ago, a couple of fashion bloggers suggested that we do a style challenge centered around a certain theme. It was settled that we do a collective print-on-print outfit without having to rely on clichés like polka dots and stripes. You can imagine my excitement! So I rummaged through my tiny wardrobe and settled on wearing my textured dotted skirt (last seen in this post) and a crop top. Who said plus-size/curvy girls can’t wear crop tops? :-)

Top – my sister’s

Skirt – Burlington Coat Factory

Heels – DSW (still my favourites btw)

Clutch – a few years old

Ring – Forever 21

Earrings – my sister’s or my mum’s (I think)

Lipstick – MAC ‘Relentlessly Red’ (it’s a matte lipstick)

The key to mixing prints and still looking put together is that (in my opinion) they should fall in the same color family. Like my top is navy blue and white, but the skirt is black and white so it still allows me to get away with the prints. I love the pop of color that the lipstick gives the outfit, given that the outfit is mostly based on neutral colours.

Don’t you think the outfit also gives off this whole 60’s Mod feel? I felt that way immediately when I put this outfit together. I’m never one to say this but square prints are bang on trend! ^_^ I’d definitely wear this outfit to an event such as a cocktail, a launch or even out to dinner with that special someone. Very modern, yet gives that 60’s vibe to it.
