A retired NASA T-38N on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The T-38Ns were a combination of former USAF T-38As reassigned to NASA and T-38As directly assigned to NASA that received significant avionics upgrades and modern controls and displays. The world’s first supersonic trainer, the T-38 flew in 1959, and the US Air Force obtained over 1,000 of them from 1961 to 1972. 2021 marks the 60th year of active duty service for the T-38 with its original operator (USAF). This T-38 Talon was built in 1965 at Northrop Field in Hawthorne, California and delivered directly to NASA. NASA’s fleet of 24 T-38s is housed at Ellington Field outside NASA’s Johnson Space Center and used for pilot proficiency and mission support flights. Fuji X-Pro2 w/18-135mm.
