North East Blogger Awards 2014: Best Lifestyle Blog

By Hellofreckles @tashajsteel
Last night I rushed home from work to get ready for the first ever, North East Blogger Awards. I've got some incredibly exciting news (note: if you've seen my twitter feed or instagram, you've probably already noticed)
After rummaging through my wardrobe I finally settled on an outfit; the white dress I wore for graduation - which let's face it, needed an excuse to be worn again, my go-to gray blazer and my new Ash Boots. They'll feature again on Hello Freckles very soon!
We arrived at Lane 7 just after 7pm and were directed downstairs to where the awards would be taking place. I was handed a finalist badge and we headed in to see what entertainment was on offer.
Drinks were provided by The Lakes Distillery and Fentimans. Given the option of whisky or gin, I decided to opt for the latter, especially when I was given it with rose lemonade! Sadly, I don't have a photo of my drink - bad blogger, I know!
Guys from Lane 7 walked around with a variety of nibbles, from pulled pork, to mini sausage burgers, wedges, wraps and Andrew's favourite, grilled cheese. I have a feeling we're going back soon, just so he can have another! We were offered the chance to bowl during the first hour of networking, but wearing a short dress, I thought better of it and instead I'm sure we'll go again when I'm in my usual skinny jeans.
Before I knew it, the band had finished their set, the dancers had left and it was time for the awards. I don't think I've ever felt so nervous! Dan Black from Metro Radio hosted the awards, taking us through the categories and before I knew it, it was time for Best Lifestyle Blog!
I won! I can't believe it! When I was announced as the winner I was completely shocked and now, writing this a day later, I'm still amazed. Walking up to collect my award and pose for photos went so quickly and I'm pretty certain I was still shaking at that point. The whole night went so quickly but it was an amazing experience that I'll never forget.

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who nominated me. I was astounded to find out I was one of the three that made the shortlist for Best Lifestyle Blog. Winning is incredible and it's given me such a confidence boost - I got into work this morning and told a few colleagues and before I knew it, everyone in the wider team had been emailed!
A massive thank you to OPR for organising the first ever North East Blogger Awards, all the great sponsors and huge congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted and those lucky ones who won. We should all celebrate another great event putting the North East firmly on the map and showcasing our bloggers!
