P-51D Mustang “Speedball Alice” seen at rest during the 2016 Wings Over Wine Country airshow.  This P-51 wears the livery used by Capt. Don Bochkay of the 357th Fighter Group. During World War II, Bochkay was credited with 13 aerial victories , including two Messerschmitt Me 262 jets. More than 8100 of the P-51D were produced, contributing to the total of 15,000 Mustangs built for the war. Approximately 300 survive today with 172 in airworthy condition. After World War II, the P-51 Mustang served in the air forces of over 55 countries.
