Pylon racing comes to the Northwest as these two aircraft from the Heritage Flight Foundation zip past the tower on a dreary day, executing a flyby for the massed photographers of the International Society for Aviation Photography.  Unlike the much more common D-model, this P-51B is one of only three in the United States.  This example was delivered in early 1944 to the 376th Fighter Squadron based in Bottisham, England. After being assigned to the 361st Fighter Group, it received the official code E9-R and the (highly) unofficial name “Impatient Virgin.”  The Texan was a postwar aircraft, delivered in 1958.  Nikon D7000 w/70-200mm.
