This was taken during the ISAP XII field trip to the Historic Flight Foundation. Part of the Foundation collection since 2008, this “Impatient Virgin” was delivered in early 1944 and flew more than 700 hours before a post-war crash left it scattered across a field for 57 years.  This is a rare example with the Malcolm hood which provided much improved visibility compared to the original “birdcage” canopy.  1988 of the B-models were built at the North American plant in Dallas, TX.  Nikon D300 w/18-200mm, processed with Photomatix Pro and Aperture.
