A Super Sabre photographed on my second visit to this museum. Like many of the Century Series of fighters, the Super Sabre is a very cool looking plane and I am always pleased to have the opportunity to photograph one. The F-100 was the first Air Force fighter to exceed the speed of sound in level flight and was also used by the USAF Thunderbirds for 12 years.  This aircraft was delivered in 1956 and had a long career ending with gate guard duty at George AFB before being transferred to the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark collection here in 1999.  This airframe actually performed as a Thunderbird during their 1959 Asia tour (the Thunderbirds were flying the F-100C at the time, but that model lacked the aerial refueling capability of the D so the team used regionally based aircraft).  Nikon D500 w/18-200mm.
