Author: Stephen Lancaster
Genre: Non-fiction, memoir, parapsychology
Note: Some people don’t understand what make a books like this non-fiction. The book documents real people, places, and historical events. The paranormal in question is debatable. When you see books like this in the non-fiction section of the library it because the historical facts are what make it non-fiction. If the book is looking at why people believe in ghost then it belongs in the sociology section. It not the subject of the book that makes it non-fiction. It what is being said about the subject in the book.
Review
I wonder if Norman knows Annabelle and Robert. Maybe they could get together and have a haunted doll tea party.
Okay, done joking… for now.
Norman two is a continuation of Stephen Lancaster, documenting the supernatural happenings in this supposed haunted doll. Like The Demonologist, while reading this book, I don’t know what to think about the crazy stuff that happens to Stephen and his family with Norman in their possession.
The first thing that happened in this book was the doll caught on fire with no indication of how. Then the family’s barn catches on fire. It is unsure whether these two even are connected, given that they both happen around the same time. If you think that is weird. Just you wait, it gets weirder.
Stephen brought Norman to a TV station that did an episode on the doll. The producer told Stephen not to bring that thing to the studio. I have to admit that was funny. To make up for that, Stephen decided to invite some friends and have an EVP session. It gets creepy. Here is the video so you can see it for yourself.
I can go on and on about the strange stuff that happens in this book. Given all the pictures and references to videos, the supernatural happenings surrounding Norman are well document. There is a whole YouTube of Stephen Lancaster’s investigations.
I am very skeptical with EVPs (electric voice phenomena) How do you know if it is a ghost or entity you hear. How do you know it is not some type of pareidolia? Your brain is making words out of random sounds.
Whether or not you believe in the supernatural, Norman two is an entertaining read. I would say Lancaster hammer hard the cliffhanger endings for each chapter. Other than that, the writing is good and forms a cohesive narrative of events as they happen.
Again, I don’t know what to think about this book when it comes to there being something paranormal going on. This comes from hearing so many stories of people saying they have seen a ghost. I’m like, okay, I don’t know what you saw. I wasn’t there with you, so if you said it’s a ghost, then okay. I will take your word for it.
In closing, a valuable lesson can be learn here, everyone. Keep your demon possessed doll in a glass case. Splash some holy water, place a religious object or a talisman of your choice in with the doll, lock the case up and throw away the key. Is that too much to ask for? If you don’t believe in the supernatural, would you bring home a demon possessed doll or to put it more lightly would you bring home a haunted doll? After saying yes, how long would it take you to change your mind?
Stay tune for next paranormal book I read and review. Oh yes there will be more.
