Spotted during my first visit to the British Columbia Aviation Museum is this Noorduyn UC-64A Norseman. Manufactured in Canada by Noorduyn Aviation, the UC-64A was a 10-place, single-engine utility transport. First flown in 1935, the Norseman was designed for rugged Canadian bush operations with the ability to use wheels, floats or skis. The Norseman remained in production for almost 25 years with over 900 delivered. Before World War II, Noorduyn delivered 79 to the Royal Canadian Air Force and 21 to the Royal Canadian Navy. The U.S. Army Air Forces later adopted the aircraft in 1942 as a light transport. Noorduyn produced 762 Norseman for the USAAF before the end of WWII, and produced the last Norseman in late 1959.
