NOLA 2014 Jazz Fest Highlights: Post-Fest Events

By Billlives

This is my second New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and once again I attended every day. I have now posted my highlights for each day. There is much going on in New Orleans each night after Jazz fest closes. Many music clubs stay open all night with live music going all hours. I did not stay up that late but below are a few events.

First, Oak Street had music and food every night. Jacque Imo’s, Chiba, and Squeal provided great food and the Maple Leaf had music all night. Below you can see two dozen chargrilled oysters from Jacque Imo’s both before and after they were consumed. After this appetizer we went to Chiba for great Japanese food with a New Orleans twist. You can see the Mardi Gras sushi roll below.

On Wednesday April 30 a section of Oak Street was closed for a block party. Again, Jacque Imo’s, Chiba, and Squeal were heavy participants. There was a crawfish boil and the event was designated as the first annual Oak Street Block party. I look forward to many more.

This is also a time when many people have crawfish boils. Here are scenes by one near Palmer Park and another by the river.
