Windows Phone smartphones are slowly but surely becoming more and more popular around the world, but there is still one market that’s refusing to accept the WP OS – Japan. The platform’s market share seems to be less than 1% there and Microsoft is obviously well aware of that fact, which is why the company’s decided to hold an event in Tokyo on July 27 in order to try and improve these numbers.
Microsoft’s hoping to boost the numbers by holding this event.
The event is called Nokia Con and it will give WP fans a chance to try out some Lumia smartphones and the Windows Phone platform hands-on. The event will be hosted by Yamane Yasuhiro, a mobile phone market expert, but we still don’t know exactly which Nokia handsets will be showcased.
Nokia Con will be limited to 60 attendees and the registration is free, but according to the registration page, 69 people have already registered, which means that someone won’t have a place at the event. Perhaps Microsoft will make more room for potential WP fans?
The whole event is a bit of a mystery, so we’ll just have to wait for July 27 to see how it went and which smartphones Japan users got to use.
