Paper Playground styled this gorgeous Noah's Ark themed Baby Shower as told by the lovely Astrid "The mum-to-be wanted a Noah's Ark theme and we didn't want the normal animals and a boat approach, so the main concept behind the design was actually drawn from the 40 days of rain in the story, with the clouds, raindrops and still incorporating the animal and boat silhouette. We chose a color palette of turquoise, orange, gray and navy blue. The concept and design was set in stone after the invitation was created. Ihad an idea of a "cloud mobile" that you would hang over the cot. A cloud with the information of the shower, with raindrops on strings and the Noah's Ark boat at the end of the middle string with the Baby Registry information. It suited the theme and played on the "Shower" event as well. Hand-cutting 32x clouds, 150x double little raindrops and 32x Noah's Arks later, I assembled each personalised invitation by hand and glittered one raindrop for each one. Next made were 32x "Nappy Goody Bags", something that has become a PAPERplayground trademark for Baby Shower goody bags. Complete with bespoke thank you tags and yummy sweets inside, it's made of a real nappy and secured with a safety pin, with a carry handle so it's easy to hold.
The dessert buffet was created the night before the Shower. As the job was interstate, I did not have the head-start of setting up with familiar pieces and jars and just had to wing it and prepare as much as I can in that one night. Again the raindrops were created for the buffet using silver cardboard, this time falling out of white and blue pompoms (the clouds), with silver tassel garlands adorning the blue pompoms for 'extra rain'. The backdrop was the easiest part- they were just the wooden shutter blinds to the windows, that we thought was a perfect representation of the Noah's Ark boat =) The mum-to-be is quite the baker and made the rainbow cupcakes, animal cupcakes, banana mini cupcakes and everyone's favourite, the vanilla slices. She ordered delicious butterscotch, apple and coconut flavoured fairy floss that we put on paper straws and stood in milk bottles. We also enjoyed a savoury buffet and finished off with the cutting of a delicious red velvet cake.
