Well, at least they didn’t break a record like they did last Wednesday (course the holiday weekend does have one more day to go).

My Fox Chicago: Five people were killed and at least 22 others — including a 14-year-old boy — have been wounded in shootings across Chicago so far this Labor Day weekend, according to Chicago Police.

The most recent homicide happened early Sunday on the Near West Side. Two men, both 24 years old, were standing outside about 2:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Randolph when a black van pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said. One man was shot multiple times in the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the fatality, but did not immediately release additional details. The other man suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left arm and was also taken to Stroger, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

About an hour earlier, a woman was shot to death in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side, police said. The woman, 19, was shot in the head about 1:30 a.m. during an outdoor party in an alley in the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove, according to Chicago Police. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

Late Friday, two fatal drive-by attacks happened within 20 minutes of each other on the Southwest and West sides.

About 11:40 p.m. in North Lawndale, 22-year-old Jamaal Barney was standing on a sidewalk in the 1800 block of South Drake when a gold SUV drove by and someone inside opened fire, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. Barney, of the 1600 block of South Central Park, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, abdomen and legs, authorities said. He taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:19 a.m. Saturday.

About 11:20 p.m. in North Austin, three men were shot while standing on a sidewalk in the 1600 block of North Mayfield, police said. Someone in a passing vehicle started shooting.

One man, 31, was shot in his right side and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died, police said. The medical examiner’s office had not confirmed the fatality as of Saturday night. The two others, 33 and 28, were each shot in the right leg and taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, respectively, police said. Their conditions had both stabilized.

The weekend’s first homicide also occurred in the North Lawndale neighborhood. A 35-year-old man was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of South Richmond at 8:20 p.m. Friday when someone walked up to the car and shot him. A friend drove him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The medical examiner’s office confirmed the death but his name still was being withheld Saturday night pending family notification.

The most recent non-fatal shooting happened early Sunday in the West Side Austin neighborhood. Two people were shot early Sunday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. Shots were fired outside of a party near Washington Boulevard and Laramie Avenue about 3:40 a.m., police said.

A man, 30, was shot in the chest and back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said. A 29-year-old woman suffered a graze wound and was taken to Loretto Hospital, where her condition was stabilized. A police source said the man is a documented gang member.

Earlier Sunday morning, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood on the South Side. The teenager was walking on the sidewalk in the 4700 block of South State about 1:10 a.m. when several males walked up and shots were fired, police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

About 10 p.m. Saturday, a 14-year-old boy was wounded in a Humboldt Park neighborhood shooting on the West Side. The boy was standing on a sidewalk with a group of people in the 4000 block of West Potomac when a dark-colored car drove by and someone inside opened fire.
