While everyone was talking about Xbox One and PS4, Nintendo was feeling left out alone and sad. So, yesterday they took a big step to come back in to the news. It was a big day for Nintendo as the company has announced several big changes to its products. First they slashed the Nintendo Wii U Deluxe price by $50, making the next-gen gaming console to cost only $300 Starting September 20. But, the big news was its’ new 2DS portable gaming device.

In hopes of winning mobile gamers, Nintendo has unveiled this new 2DS Portable, which basically looks more like 3DS XL but without 3D or the ability to close the device. So, it’s like a big tablet with huge buttons and two small screens. As seen on the intro video, it has a bulky body design too. Apparently, you can play 3DS games in 2D with this device. Sure, it looks fun for kids. But, will it be enough?

Nintendo has to come up with a better plan than exclusive titles or reinvented game-consoles to steal mobile gamers because as far as I know they are already hooked on smartphone gaming. We’ve got a ton of cool free game apps and gets to play them on the same device we make calls. Do we really need another device just to play games?

Nintendo 2DS will arrive in stores on October 12 with a price tag of $130.
