You wake up in the middle of the night. You’re chest is all wet and sweaty. You have ample boob sweat going on AND underneath your hair is soaked!
You sit up in bed also to find that your sheets are wet and your pillow feels like the dog peed on it!
Yeah, That’s Night Sweats
But you have to think, are these hormonal night seats OR are you sweating profusely because you were dreaming you were fighting and you had a good work out?
Do you feel like you spent hours at the gym? Were you kick-boxing in your dream or kicking someone’s bum?
You know it’s not because your bedroom is hot, because it isn’t AND you know it’s not because you just had marathon sex with your partner, so what the heck is it?
There Are Many Reasons For Night Sweats
- Menopause – hot flashes that occur during menopause often occur at night
- Infections – are you battling a cold or bacterial infection?
Cancer– let’s not go here- Medications – certain medications may cause you to have night sweats however, I have to wonder, if you are on antidepressants full-time, would you have consistent night sweats or periodic ones?
- Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
So Why My Night Sweats?
Personally, I think they are hormone related. I haven’t figured out a routine of these night sweats but as with everything else in my life, it’s all menopausal induced.
How Do You Stop Night Sweats?
First and foremost, if they happen a lot, I would definitely consult your family physician.
- Keep fans in your bedroom
- Keep the bedroom temperature low
- Wear moisture-wicking pj’s
- Again, see your physician
Don’t Forget
Night sweats may not be hormonal and can mean you are battling an infection, thus the importance of consulting your physician. If you’re night sweats are accompanied by a fever, don’t delay and seek help immediately.
Over To You
Do you often wake up from night sweats? And if so, have you narrowed it down to a reason? How does it make you feel to wake up in a pool of sweat?
