Nicholas Roberts – ‘The Rest of Our Lives’ Stream

A singer-songwriter from Orlando who contacted us after reading about Matt McKee, we were intrigued to hear just what Nicholas Roberts’ sound would be like. Opening with the lyrics ‘Good morning, I love you. Don’t leave if I hurt you, I hope you will understand’ over some guitar work that has some distinctly Death Cab strums, ‘The Rest of Our Lives’ also has subtle layers of strings in its distinctly chilled atmospherics.

Nicholas then goes on to ponder ‘Maybe we’re made for an uncomplicated year but I don’t see that happening’ before asking – with some delicious boy/girl vocal interplay with Jeni Valtinson – the song’s subject: ‘What if this is the rest of our lives, what would you do about it then?’ Pounding drums enter the fray halfway through the song and then there are some of those captivating handclaps that you can’t help but love. For fans of Ryan Adams and City and Colour, let Nicholas Roberts bring some sunshine heartbreak into your life.
