Between us we bring the best out of each other – It sounds cliche but when you know you know.
How did your love story begin?
Both Ben and I were living in London and we met in the line to get on a cruise ship in Stockholm in Sweden. We had both seen each other across a room the night before I thought Ben was traveling with his girlfriend but turns out he wasn’t, we got chatting, had few drinks together and the rest is history.
What was the budget?
I’m not sure what our budget was as we switched currencies when we moved to Australia. It was originally in UK pounds (which we planned to spend about £10k-12k). Ben holds all the spreadsheets and dealt with all the figures, I maintain we are under budget but apparently not!
What was your inspiration or theme for the day?
There wasn’t any inspiration or theme for the day.
I just wanted a personal ceremony and a relaxed fun day for everyone there and involved.
What were your Save & Splurge items?
Splurge; Definitely photography as you have to look at those pictures for the rest of your life and our photographs are amazing, had me happy crying watching our slideshow!
Save; Bridesmaids dresses, I ordered these online, saving about 20% buying direct from the manufacturer.
What music did you play for those special moments?
Songbird by Eva Cassidy for walking down the asle. Signed sealed and delivered for the processional.
First dance – Greatest Day by Take that – Take That got a lot of air time in the UK and I used to sing along to their songs, our first Christmas together Ben got me tickets to see them live at Wembley, it was an amazing concert (Ben even enjoyed it) so it was really cool to have one of their songs for our first dance.
In hindsight, is there anything that you would have done differently?
Thank our MC! We both completely forgot on the day
What advice would you give to future brides to be?
Keep things simple and try not to sweat the small stuff.
Take time during the day to just take time out by yourself and with your husband. The day goes so fast just having those moment is really important, I wish I could remember more of the day, I see photos and wonder what we were laughing about. Have fun and enjoy yourself – all the planning and pre wedding stress is totally worth it!
What do you love most about being a MRS?
I’m still getting used to it, I’m not changing my name but I do occasionally use Ben’s name to book restaurants which is kinda exciting and I have giggle when they pronounce it incorrectly! What I love it knowing we’ve made a commitment to each other for the rest of our lives and I’m looking forward to all the adventures ahead of us!
