Niagara Falls, a Great Spot to Honeymoon

By Twothirstytravellers @2thirstytrav

Niagara falls is a top honeymoon spot for the recently wed. Couples flock here to experience the great romantic region and after my recent visit there it’s easy to see why. So if you are recently wed and still haven’t decided on your honeymoon destination then here are my top things to do during your Niagara Falls getaway.

1. Enjoy a romantic sunrise over the falls. If you want to escape the crowds and witness the beautiful falls, then sunrise is a great time of day to go. Pack a picnic, with some Champagne (totally acceptable in the morning when you are on honeymoon) and watch as the sun paints the morning sky pink over this beautiful spot.

2. If early morning rising isn’t your thing then don’t worry, you can pack a romantic picnic and watch the amazing fireworks display in the evening. These are put on over the summer and winter months.

3. Take the view in from above with a helicopter ride over the falls. Nothing gives you a better view of the total magnificence of these falls then a bird’s eye view. If you were thinking of eloping then you can even get married up in the helicopter too.

4. Stay at one of the many luxurious hotels on offer. The Stirling Inn Spa, is a beautiful boutique hotel in the Niagara region and the perfect accommodation for honeymooners. Enjoy the fine dining at their award-winning restaurant and take advantage of their full spa service. You can get couple treatments of massage, facials, body scrubs and much more. Or perhaps stay at the Hilton, which is rated on Trip Advisor as ‘Top Ten World’s Best View”. This hotel is 53 stories high at the famous Horseshoe Falls offering guests world-class views of the falls.

5. Take a wine and food tour of the outer Niagara region. Nothing spells romance like some good food and wine. The Niagara region is one of Canada’s most popular wine regions offering many award-winning wines and plenty of tasting rooms to choose from. Be sure to visit Inniskillin winery, located in Niagara-on-the-Lake. For food follow the regions culinary trail, for all farmhouse restaurants that offer great local produce and cuisine.

6. Take a romantic boat trips to one of the many falls in the region. There are plenty of boat trips that get you up close and personal to the falls. Get the waterproof camera out and get a romantic couples shot, as the mist of the water rushing down from above sprays you.
