A rare Laserdisc, which is rare itself these days, from 1983 was recently discovered. This Lucasfilm EditDroid disc which contains thirty-minutes of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage from Return of the Jedi.
These LP-sized LaserDiscs were popular among video enthusiasts because they provided the best quality home video experience. They allowed for uncompressed full-frame video and 5.1 audio, which is why George Lucas was drawn to the format as a way to avoid all that tedious mucking around with filmstock.
