New Year, New ... Not So Sure

Some of my lovely books. Photographed by my even lovelier friend.

December 12, 2017 made 6 years since I started this blog (Happy Belated birthday bookshy). It's also a new year (Happy 2018 everyone). It's also been more than a minute since I've been on here (What is up with that?). If I'm honest, I was a bit nervous writing my first post after a few months away, but as I enter the sixth year of my blog's existence I've thought a lot about changes, evolution, things I started and never got around to finish, as well as things I want to do next.

Confession: There were many points in 2017 when I felt like giving up blogging, but every time that thought crossed my mind, I would remember the joy I feel whenever I get a new idea for a blog post and how much I truly enjoy researching and learning about African literature. So, instead I decided to take a break from blogging, but not from African literature (never that). It's a new year and my mini-break from the blog is over, but this post is not a declaration of new and exciting things to come on bookshy. The truth: in thinking about evolutions and what next, I realised I did not have major plans for the blog for 2018, but also that all I wanted was to have fun with it and continue to blog about the things I love and get way too excited about. So, I say happy new year to everyone, happy 6 years and 1 month to bookshy, and most of all - a huge thanks for those of you that continue to visit my blog and read my post even with my erratic blogging recently. Here's to a great 2018 ... and to not so erratic blogging from me.
