Spring has arrived, and we've been busy working in the garden. And, while we're on the topic of gardening I wanted to share my favorite festival of the season is the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. The gardener's at Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort have been hard at work prepare all the beautiful topiaries planted throughout the park.
It's amazing how much works it takes to create the fine details on these whimsical topiaries. Disney's gardener's use up to 25 different plants, moss, and grass in a rainbow of colors to make these amazing topiaries come to life. Along with the topiaries there are sweeping floral beds and exhibits decorating Epcot’s landscape.
Don’t forget to drop in at the Festival Welcome Center to pick up a Garden Passport. It makes a nice keepsake that children, and the young at heart can have stamped at stops throughout Epcot. There’s so much to experience during the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. Take you time to meet and greet with Disney’s characters. Relax, while the children enjoy fun outdoor activities that inspire playful, active and healthy living in gardens designed just for them.
Kids will spot some of their favorite character’s in the festive and colorful gardens like Goofy and along with Mater. They’ll have a monster of a time in one of the largest festival gardens ever created; Mike and Sulley’s Monstrous Garden that’s sure to be a fun adventure for everyone.
As for entertainment, the popular Garden Rocks concert series will expand to four days each week, with three concerts each Friday through Monday presenting pop musicians that span multiple genres over five decades. Among the new acts this year: Simple Plan, Exposé and Berlin featuring Terri Nunn.
Along with all the beautiful flowers and topiaries, there are an abundance of tasty selections to sample during the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. Over in The Land pavilion sample delicious menu otems like Eggplant “Scallop” with Romesco Sauce, Ghost Pepper Dusted Tilapia with Winter Melon Salad and Mango Chutney, plus red and white vegan wines and gluten-free beer.
There’s more tasty food to sample at the Outdoor Kitchens, where you can watch the chefs cook up vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. They’ll also be creating some of last year’s top menu picks that include Watermelon Salad with local baby arugula, feta cheese, pickled red onions and balsamic reduction in the Florida Fresh Outdoor Kitchen.
