“new Social Sites -n Social Media Marketing”

By Julia Fernandes @appshub

I am having some troubles signing up for the free social media strategy course. I am getting the message “I’m so sorry! Something’s broken on our end. You’re welcome to leave me a comment and I’ll get on this!”

Below, we’ve laid out some of the most popular types of apps and websites for teens: texting, microblogging, live-streaming, self-destructing/secret, and chatting/meeting/dating. The more you know about each, the better you’ll be able to communicate with your teen about safe choices.

On October 2, 2013, the most common hashtag throughout the United States was “#governmentshutdown”, as well as ones focusing on political parties, Obama, and healthcare. Most news sources have Twitter, and Facebook, pages, like CNN and the New York Times, providing links to their online articles, getting an increased readership. Additionally, several college news organizations and administrators have Twitter pages as a way to share news and connect to students.[71] According to “Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2013”,[72] in the US, among those who use social media to find news, 47% of these people are under 45 years old, and 23% are above 45 years old. However social media as a main news gateway does not follow the same pattern across countries. For example, in this report, in Brazil, 60% of the respondents said social media was one of the five most important ways to find news online, 45% in Spain, 17% in the UK, 38% in Italy, 14% in France, 22% in Denmark, 30% in the U.S., and 12% in Japan.[72] Moreover, there are differences among countries about commenting on news in social networks, 38% of the respondents in Brazil said they commented on news in social network in a week. These percentages are 21% in the U.S. and 10% in the UK. The authors argued that differences among countries may be due to culture difference rather than different levels of access to technical tools.[72]

In your final project, you’ll summarize the different marketing campaigns you have executed, and reflect on the results. You’ll evaluate the ROI of your campaigns, compare the results across platforms, then formulate recommendations for future marketing action and budget allocation.

Marketers target influential people on social media who are recognised as being opinion leaders and opinion-formers to send messages to their target audiences and amplify the impact of their message. A social media post by an opinion leader can have a much greater impact (via the forwarding of the post or “liking” of the post) than a social media post by a regular user. Marketers have come to the understanding that “consumers are more prone to believe in other individuals” who they trust (Sepp, Liljander, & Gummerus, 2011). OL’s and OF’s can also send their own messages about products and services they choose (Fill, Hughes, & De Francesco, 2013, p. 216). The reason the opinion leader or formers have such a strong following base is because their opinion is valued or trusted (Clement, Proppe, & Rott, 2007). They can review products and services for their followings, which can be positive or negative towards the brand. OL’s and OF’s are people who have a social status and because of their personality, beliefs, values etc. have the potential to influence other people (Kotler, Burton, Deans, Brown, & Armstrong, 2013, p. 189). They usually have a large number of followers otherwise known as their reference, membership or aspirational group (Kotler, Burton, Deans, Brown, & Armstrong, 2013, p. 189. By having an OL or OF support a brands product by posting a photo, video or written recommendation on a blog, the following may be influenced and because they trust the OL/OF a high chance of the brand selling more products or creating a following base. Having an OL/OF helps spread word of mouth talk amongst reference groups and/or memberships groups e.g. family, friends, work-friends etc. (Kotler, Burton, Deans, Brown, & Armstrong, 2013, p. 189).[88][89][90][91][91][91] The adjusted communication model shows the use of using opinion leaders and opinion formers. The sender/source gives the message to many, many OL’s/OF’s who pass the message on along with their personal opinion, the receiver (followers/groups) form their own opinion and send their personal message to their group (friends, family etc.) (Dahlen, Lange, & Smith, 2010, p. 39).[92]

Social networks dedicated to a special theme like music or movies might ask questions related to that theme. In this way, dating websites can be seen as social networking websites because they network you with other people who are looking for the same things you are.

Customize your posts, schedule them for publishing later, collaborate with other team members and get access to all your social analytics. A free account gets you a very limited offering of just the basic features with tight restrictions, but there are four more premium account types that are affordable for any small or large social marketing strategy. If you’re a working digital marketer who wants to skill up, add a specialty, or refresh your skills with cutting-edge content, consider the Self-Study model. This is also a good choice if you want more schedule flexibility, or need to watch your budget.

Communication Studies are often considered a part of both the social sciences and the humanities, drawing heavily on fields such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, information science, biology, political science, and economics as well as rhetoric, literary studies, and semiotics. Many communication concepts describe the transfer of information from one source to another, and can thus be conceived of in terms of a network.

Test something new. We’re open to testing just about anything at Buffer. We’re in the midst of some tests right now on our Facebook account. Do Facebook Live videos get more views than non-live videos? Does the video length matter? We’ll often hear about someone’s new strategy or get a new idea and then test right away.

Some companies can be portrayed by customers negatively as some consumers lack trust online due to the amount of advertising that appears on websites and social media that can be considered frauds. This can affect their image and reputation and make them out to look like a dishonest brand.

It’s safe to say that the “more of us” referred to by Professor Levy are outnumbered by people who quietly tolerate online ads and others who embrace them. Now more than ever, both categories are sought by companies desperate to connect in a place where friendship and commerce are easily conflated. It’s worth noting that the Oreo page on Facebook (though Mr. Vaynerchuk had nothing to do with it) has more than 34 million “likes.”

Kik – Just like internetlovingteen said, it’s rated 17+ for a reason. It’s absolutely not for kids. WhatsApp – Heard of it, but never used it. Group Me – Never heard of it. Instagram – Relatively safe, however, it does have some explicit content. Tumblr – There’s some pornographic content on it, but you can search for certain things you like, so it’s relatively safe if you don’t wander into the explicit sections of it. Twitter – Relatively safe as long as you set it to private. Has some swearing. Musical.ly – Relatively safe, however, some songs have swearing and/or explicit content. YouNow – Never heard of it. Periscope – Heard of it, but never used it. Live.ly – Never heard of it. Burn Note – Never heard of it. Snapchat – A bit difficult to use and can potentially have explicit content. Would not recommend for kids. Whisper – Can potentially have NSFW content and things like suicide, self-harm, and drugs. Not for kids. Also rated 17+ for a reason. Yik Yak – Heard of it, but never used it. MeetMe – Not for kids. Omegle – Not for kids. Tinder – Can have explicit and sexual content. It’s generally for hook-ups instead of long-term dating relationships. Do not let kids on this app.

The criteria and metrics can be classified according to its type and time span. Regarding the type, we can either evaluate these campaigns “Quantitatively” or “Qualitatively”. Quantitative metrics may include “Sales Volume” and “Revenue Increase/Decrease”. While qualitative metrics may include the enhanced “Brand awareness, image and health” as well as the “relationship with the customers”.

Foursquare has broken up its location-based app into two parts. While its main Foursquare app is now meant to be used as a location discovery tool, its Swarm app is all about being social. You can use it to see where your friends are, let them know where you are by checking in, and chat or plan to meet up at a specific location sometime later.

On a fall night in 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer programming genius Mark Zuckerberg sits down at his computer and heatedly begins working on a new idea. In a fury of blogging and programming, what begins in his dorm room soon becomes a global social network and a revolution in communication. A mere six years and 500 million friends later, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in history… but for this entrepreneur, success leads to both personal and legal complications. We refer to these digital marketing channels/assets as ‘owned’ because once your business has created them, they’re yours. Your business has sole responsibility for when and where they appear online and how they’re distributed. For example, you’re able to control exactly what appears in your company’s Twitter feed, making it an ‘owned’ channel. You can decide at any time to publish a blog post on your website and you can promote your new ebook to your email database whenever you like. These are also referred to as your ‘owned’ channels.

But wait… you soon realize their experience with your platform is not optimal; they are so far away from your operational region that the latency is terrible, and you obviously don’t want them to quit. If only there was an easy way of extending your global reach… but there is!

You need to pass 2 of the AdWords certification exams to become an AdWords certified professional — the AdWords Fundamentals exam and one of the following: Search Advertising, Display Advertising, Mobile Advertising, Video Advertising, or Shopping Advertising. While not required, it is recommended that all students undertake the AdWords Certification exams upon completing the Digital Marketing Course.

Social networks and the analysis of them is an inherently interdisciplinary academic field which emerged from social psychology, sociology, statistics, and graph theory. Georg Simmel authored early structural theories in sociology emphasizing the dynamics of triads and “web of group affiliations”.[2] Jacob Moreno is credited with developing the first sociograms in the 1930s to study interpersonal relationships. These approaches were mathematically formalized in the 1950s and theories and methods of social networks became pervasive in the social and behavioral sciences by the 1980s.[1][3] Social network analysis is now one of the major paradigms in contemporary sociology, and is also employed in a number of other social and formal sciences. Together with other complex networks, it forms part of the nascent field of network science.[4][5]

“People always ask if there is return on investment in social media,” said Mr. Vaynerchuk, sitting in his office one afternoon. “Does an ad before this article work?” he asked, pointing to a magazine. “Does an ad on TV? Our clients on those media don’t know. What they know is that there’s a spike in sales after they run an ad on TV. The same is true with social media. So my answer is, social media ads are bound by the same logic used to justify ads since the beginning of radio.”
