There's a new big cheese in Shawlands
Cheese lovers of Glasgow's Southside rejoice as the Christmas popup Starter Culture is now open permanently in Shawlands!
Starter Culture can be found at 1052 - 1054 Pollokshaws Rd. It was formerly John Stewart Jewellers located between the Co-op and Salt & Vinegar restaurant & takeaway.

There's a mixed selection of blues, goat, cheddars, smelly cheeses...
And you will be encouraged to try before you buy...
The Minger (yes, that's its real name!) was popular during our visit...
The Gorgonzola is especially great and served by the scoop like ice-cream. Apparently it goes well with chocolate..?!
It's not all cheese, there's a selection of jars, sauces and packets of goodies.
The rhubarb and cardamom jam caught our eye.
While in the fridge there's Scottish kimchi!
And flavoured soda from local company Rapscallion, well worth a try if you haven't tried them before.
There will also be wine on sale soon, currently in the application stage, so wine and cheese parties all round Shawlands shortly!
There's also a selection of charcuterie at the counter.
Bread is from Wheatberry Bakery.
We've already taken ours home for lunch and Fred approved of the cheese! 🙂
