New Music Premiere: Bloodhype – ‘Friendly Wash’

Chicago-based musician Maureen Neer has made a welcome return with her Bloodhype project. Ahead of the release of her new album ‘High From Las Vegas’ (available to order via Fox Food Records’ Bandcamp), we’re delighted to be premiering new single ‘Friendly Wash’.

Collaborating with Chris Lee and Colin Mulhern, the song mixes heartbreak with electro-pop hooks as it starts with a distinctively DIY feel. Combining minimalist keyboard beats with the melodic noise that served Casiotone for the Painfully Alone so well, the atmospheric music gently wraps itself around your ears as Maureen sings about the point of existence in a gliding style. The six minutes draw you in and you can’t help but feel her sadness, especially when the distinctive samples (reminiscent of Bright Eyes’ ‘Digital Ash in a Digital Urn’) are thrown in towards the end.
