Thankfully, Jason Segal and Disney’s gamble to reinvigorate the Muppet brand paid off big time. The Muppets was a critical and financial success and it only makes sense that Disney would be on board for a sequel. The only disappointing news is that Jason Segal won’t be around for script writing duties this time. Vulture reports that director James Bobin and original co-writer Nicholas Stoller will pen the sequel. Hope isn’t lost that Segal might still appear in the film, but his passion for the project was paramount to the success of the new film [which we loved]. Disney insiders tell Vulture that between his [Jason Segal's] commitment to the CBS sitcom, his other feature-writing efforts, and promotional work for Five Year Engagement (due out this coming April) and Judd Apatow‘s This Is Forty (in December).
