There's no time like spring to add some fresh style to your wardrobe! With a budget in mind and a trip to the stores or browsing through some websites, your style is the limit!
And because, by nature, spring is a time when everything is in bloom, why shouldn't your clothes bloom as well? Maybe this spring is the best time to add new clothes in your closet.
Knowing how to make the best of your spring style will help you a lot when you will go shopping for new clothes.
And, speaking of shopping, you might even be able to save some money or buy more things for the budget you laid out for clothes, as our pals at East Dane are having a great sale. You can get a coupon and start shopping!
But, before you start shopping for your new, upgraded spring wardrobe, let's take a look at a few tips you can follow to make sure that you will look put together and stylish this spring! In this guide, we look at a few spring styling tips, which can be adapted to any taste, preferences and budget. Following a few simple rules will also make you know how to make better choices when you are going shopping, as the wide variety of available styles can turn out to be a bit of a hassle.
If you are not so big on colors, you can add only one pop of color to your outfits. A colorful tie, a pocket square or a bright shirt, paired with an otherwise all neutral outfit, are great ways to add some personality and style to any neutral outfit. This tip can be applied by people who work in offices or other places that require a conservative dress code, as they are easy ways styling up an outfit without making it casual or stepping outside the professional area.
As the great Diana Vreeland would say, "why don't you" go full print this spring and wear multiple prints at one time? Depending on your preferences, you can mix stripes, dots, florals, or anything else. In big lines, the rule you need to follow when you are mixing prints is that they should be of different sizes. For example, thick stripes go with thin ones. The same rule applies if you want to wear two different prints: thick lines go with small dots, big paisley goes with a small floral print, etc.
If you want to reflect the spring's sunlight and to be a bright presence, the best way to do it is by adding some shine to your outfits. If you are wearing shiny pieces, make sure that they are not designed for dressier occasions. For example, shiny bow ties are always to be reserved to be worn at night in a setting such as an opera house. There are many casual and semi-formal shiny pieces as well. Also note that shine does not necessarily have to mean wearing sequins or anything, it can simply mean wearing something that reflects light in a great way. Metallic clothes and accessories are a great way to do that, which brings us to our next point...
A great way to express your personality and to add a couple of interesting details to your outfits is putting on accessories. There are so many great accessories to choose from, that it will be hard not to find at least a few you'll like. Ties, pocket squares, watches, hats, bow ties - all can improve your look and make you stand out from the crowd!
However, when you are wearing accessories, make sure that you remember two things:
a) Your accessories need to be proportionate to your size. This means that bigger men should wear wider ties, wider belts, bigger bow ties, etc., while men with smaller frames should wear skinny ties, thin bracelets, and narrower glasses frames. Wearing accessories that are not proportionate to your body will not make you look better. If you are a bigger man wearing accessories that are bigger than your size, they will make you look even bigger and wearing accessories that are too small will make you look as if you are hurt by your accessories. A small guy wearing accessories that are too big for his size will look as if he is carrying the weight of the world on his wrists and around his neck (and not in a good way). If you are a small guy, and want to appear bigger by wearing smaller accessories, that won't work either: you will look even smaller and strangled by your accessories.
This rule of proportions applies to clothes as well.
b) Metals and metallic accessories are neutral. This means that they go with any color and that they can be mixed with each other. Therefore, forget what anyone taught you and note that you can wear silver and gold at the same time!
An there you have it! Four men's style tips that will help you stay stylish this spring and that will help you be on top of your game!
